While the shearer does the highly skilled work, we and our interns catch and hold sheep, tag this year’s lambs, and give everybody their annual shots. Shetland sheep are very wary and every year there are a few renegades that just won’t be caught. Then it’s a foot race-rodeo, up hill and down hill, all through the pastures, to round them up! Every couple of years, too, we shear Shiloh llama just to keep him tidy. Each fleece, including Shiloh’s, is marked and bagged to be sold at the Fall Southeastern Fiber Fair.
